Introduction

The Diploma course in Petro Chemical Engineering focuses on imparting theoretical and practical knowledge in design, development, operation and maintenance of processes involving Petro Chemical Engineering & Technology. The department places an emphasis on nurturing the innovative ability of students.

About the department

Petro Chemical engineering is one of the finest branches of engineering which deals with the production of chemicals, bio chemicals, nonmaterial, fuel cell and etc. Petro Chemical engineering course mainly involves design of chemical manufacturing equipments like reactors, distillation, absorption and extraction columns using computer software. In addition, safety and environmental pollution control also are being dealt. The chemical engineering diploma graduates have got good opportunity in chemical industries, research organization, food and bio chemicals and other related industries like paints, polymers, pharmaceuticals and etc.

The Diploma in Petro Chemical Engineering course as part time here was started in the academic year of 1989-1990 and it was upgraded as full time course in the academic year of 1994-1995.

Objective

* To provide a quality learning environment, in terms of inspiring teachers, state-of-the-art facilities, experience sharing and widening the knowledge horizon, interacting with experts from academia and industry, facilitating the student in the process of growth in the Petro Chemical field.

* To provide the best opportunity to the students to attain technical excellence in the field of Petro Chemical Engineering and Emerging Technologies and to develop a comprehensive and integrated personality.

* To understand basic chemical engineering principles such as material and energy balances, thermodynamics, momentum, heat and mass transfer; mechanical separation process and process systems engineering

* To help students analyze problems, formulate solutions and design systems using appropriate scientific and engineering methodologies

* To help students develop appreciation for societal, historical and global issues, as well as understand professional and ethical responsibilities towards society and environment
